My Journey as an Entrepreneur
Mid-April 2020, during the midst of COVID-19, one of my fraternity brothers from undergrad called me. Him and I had been in three different organizations together during our undergrad, including a service-based fraternity, which we founded together. He asked me if I would be interested in joining him on his business venture. Without much thought, in just a few seconds, I said yes!
He had already begun the project back in December of 2018, but did not have much time for it because of school. However, this semester like the perfect opportunity because we were both finishing up our undergrad that same year. We both immediately began working on the project and eventually built our team to a team of four.
On January 2021, we officially established Evolution of Leadership as a corporation and launched on January 19th, 2021. On launch day, something Amazing happened. We received a donation of $1000 from a supporter of our mission. This donation served as a motivation to show us that people truly believe in our organization’s mission and vision.
We now have paying members on our platform and are currently scaling our business. This business was born out of nothing and is now something. It is truly amazing how much progress we have made both on the business and on our personal development.
My entrepreneurial journey thus far has been full of ups and downs. I have had to learn and master so many skills. There are still many things that I am yet to learn and achieve. Here are a few things have learned thus far:
- How to build a website.
- How to host online events.
- How to hire on straight equity.
- How to get accepted into a startup accelerator.
- How to start a business with almost zero bucks.
